Growing Faith, One Meal at a Time

Little nuggets of faith to share, explore and enjoy together this Christmas!

Nativity Nuggets is a fun, creative Advent resource designed to help families slow down, connect and discover the wonder of the Christmas story together.

Presented as a simple, interactive paper bag book, this resource includes eight beautifully illustrated Nativity-themed cards that take families on a journey through the events leading up to the birth of Jesus.

Each card includes a short Bible reflection, a simple prayer, a fun family activity and a conversation starter to encourage meaningful faith-filled moments around the dinner table or whenever families gather.

Easy to use, with minimal preparation, Nativity Nuggets is a wonderful way for churches to encourage faith at home, helping families create special Christmas memories while discovering the greatest gift of all — Jesus.

How to Make Your Nativity Nuggets Paper Bag Book

Creating your own paper bag book is simple, inexpensive and a fun activity for families or children's ministry groups.

You will need:

  • 4 small paper lunch bags (preferably all the same size. not the ones with handles.

  • Printed Nativity Nuggets cover and eight activity cards so they fit the 9x12 cm pockets

  • A stapler or hole punch and ribbon/string

  • Glue stick or double-sided tape

  • Scissors

  • Optional: coloured pencils, stickers or Christmas decorations

Putting your book together

  1. Prepare your bags: fold the bottom of the bag towards the other side and cut the bottom off the bag.  Then lay four paper bags on top of each other.

  2. Fold your book: Fold the stack of bags in half to create a booklet. The folded edges form the spine, while the open ends become pockets.

  3. Secure the spine: Staple along the folded edge or punch two holes and tie with ribbon or string.

  4. Add your cover: Cut out and glue the Nativity Nuggets cover onto the front of your book.

  5. Prepare your nuggets: Print and cut out the eight Nativity cards. Place them in the paper bag pockets, ready to discover throughout Advent.

  6. Make it your own: Decorate your book with stars, drawings, stickers or Christmas messages.

Tip: Check that your printed cards fit inside the pockets before assembling your book. You can reduce the print size if needed.

How to Use Nativity Nuggets at Home

Choose a time when your family can gather — perhaps around the dinner table, after a meal or before bedtime.

Each time you gather, pull out a new Nativity Nugget, read the short reflection, talk about the question, enjoy the activity and finish with the prayer.

You don't need to complete all eight cards on consecutive nights. Spread them throughout Advent and enjoy the journey towards Christmas at your own pace.

The aim isn't to create another busy Christmas activity, but to make space for simple, meaningful moments of faith and connection as a family.
